Office Administrator and Customer Service Representative

Job Purpose:

Against The Grain is looking for an individual to be part of our office team. The focus of this position is to work closely with the Logistics Manager to process purchase orders and organize weekly shipments as well as maintain customer service emails and calls throughout the week.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Answering and directing all phone calls to our main line by being the welcome face and personality of Against the Grain
  • Greeting/welcoming/signing in all guests
  • Assist Logistics Manager in day-to-day needs to include: receiving purchase orders, updatingbake plans based on orders, organizing the shipping/receiving schedule, updating our inventory systems, understanding and organizing pallet builds, creating paperwork for shipping manager and team, communicating with buyers regarding their orders along with any tasks needed to keep our supply chain organized.
  • Responding to all customer service inquires (via email, mail and phone)
  • Receive incoming courier packages and prepare outgoing packages
  • Assisting in coverage of our ATG Factory Outlet Store as needed
  • Notifying management with major consumer issues and keeping management updated with customer service responses
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager

Requirements:

  • Applicant must be at least 18 years of age
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Knowledge of invoices and invoicing
  • Ability to manage time efficiently
  • Exceptional customer-service skills and effective communication, both verbal and written
  • Must be comfortable working with spreadsheets
  • Must be efficient in Excel and MS Word
  • Have interpersonal skills and be personable
  • Some experience with a register
  • Basic data entry experience
  • Must able to prioritize tasks and work as part of a team

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required. 2-4 years customer service and/or logistics experience recommended. Knowledge of a logistics portal is preferred (Fishbowl portal and/or Lineage Logistics portal is ideal).

Work Hours:

40 hour work week, working an eight-hour shift, M-F. Occasional overtime.

Maintenance Mechanic

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Senior Maintenance Mechanic, you will work with our maintenance team in servicing all the mechanical components of a large commercial bakery including ovens, food processing equipment, packaging equipment, and refrigeration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Work professionally with maintenance peers maintaining good verbal and written communication in regard to tasks/problems throughout the day and recording it in the log.
    • Servicing and maintaining equipment including motors, conveyor systems, transmission systems, and
    • production-related equipment
    • Troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns.
    • Reading and interpreting blueprints/electrical diagrams.
    • Inspecting and assessing the functionality of production machines.
    • Fabricating parts for repairs and machine upgrades.
    • Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

A knowledge of and experience with some or all of the following: bakery equipment, pneumatics, valves, cylinders, air compressors, propane ovens, freezers, coolers, PLCs, and/or inverters. Electrical knowledge is highly desirable. You must be able to troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on production machinery. You must possess your own tools and at minimum a high school diploma or GED. Forklift experience is a plus.

Compensation: Starting salary of $20/hour

Working Conditions:

This job requires the ability to work in a fast-pace environment. Mechanics may be required to work in or around our freezers and temperatures will be cold, but not for extreme periods of time. Although the production floor has good air flow, the temperatures may be a little higher than usual due to the ovens and boiling in certain areas.

Physical Requirements:

    • Lifting: Must be able to lift 75+ pounds from bending position; back and upper body strength required.
    • Reaching/Bending: Must reach repeatedly for objects at shoulder level, or bend and reach for objects below waist level: repetitive motion.
    • Grasping: Holding objects for extending periods of time: some repetitive motion is required.
    • Standing/Walking: Must stand for most of workday. Must walk quickly across the facility to complete tasks in a timely manner.
    • Pivoting/Rotating: Specific stations require repetitively grasping objects, with upper-body pivoting and rotating.
    • Pulling/Pushing: May pull and/or push pallets of product with weights of up to 800 pounds on a pallet jack; jack is pulled/pushed across a smooth floor with little resistance, but it does require some upper-body strength.

Production Baker/Line Worker

We have multiple openings for production bakers/line workers. These are full-time positions.

You must be able to lift 65+ pounds from a bending position, take direction well, follow precise instructions in a timely manner, and work well both independently and with others. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, high quality standards, and a positive attitude. Attention to detail is essential. We prefer candidates with some commercial kitchen or food production/manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities:

Ingredient preparation, dough production, product packaging, and/or line work. Some shifts conclude with facility clean up. This is satisfying, physically demanding work in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements:

Applicant must be at least 18 years of age, with a valid High School Diploma or GED.

Work hours:

  • 40 hour work week, an eight-hour shift, Monday - Friday, 1:30pm - 9:30pm shifts available. Occasional overtime.
  • For a limited time Against the Grain is also offering part time positions starting at $19/hour

Compensation:

Starting salary of $16/hour, with an opportunity for a raise of $1 at both 6 and 12 months depending on performance. Against the Grain offers a shift differential for our 4:30am, 5:00am, and 1:30pm positions at $17/hour. Our benefits include medical, dental and vision benefits, a $2000 company paid HRA plan, 14 paid days off, 8 paid holidays, a 401(k) retirement plan (with employer contributions), an employee assistance program, and other supplemental benefits (including life insurance).
